I'm originally from Baltimore and spent most of my life in slower lower Delaware. Blue crabs are a big part of my life, and I always appreciate delicious, local crabs. I've been to Boondocks a handful of times, and the crabs are always top notch. At first glance the "Pig Out" doesn't seem like it would do the trick for a seasoned blue crab fan, considering it's half a dozen crabs. But when they say they are number 1's, they are truly number 1's. Always large and packed full of meat. They don't skimp on the seasoning they use for cooking the crabs and bring out several containers including butter, crab seasoning, and a vinegar/crab seasoning blend when they bring your crabs out. To round out the Pig Out, along with the 6 crabs, you get about a half pound of large steamed shrimp, 2 ears of corn, and a combination basket with wing-dings and fries. The corn has been exceptional no matter when I've visited, which surprised me considering how summer hasn't started yet and usually high quality sweet corn is hard to come by in May. The shrimp are very tasty, the wing dings as well. Not a huge fan of the french fries but that's more based on my preference, not an issue with the fries. My teenage son loves the restaurant. The last time he was with me he ordered the fried seafood combination platter and raved over it. The menu has quite a bit to offer compared to similar "crab-house" style restaurants, a little something for everyone. Service has never fallen short of expectations, the wait staff I've interacted with on my visits have all been exceptionally friendly, engaging, and able to answer any menu related questions without any hesitation. The place is out of the way (obviously) but that adds to the charm. The decor and ambiance gives it a typical seafood restaurant vibe but adds a little more "quirky" to the mix, which I think helps it to stand out a bit more from other restaurants. As far as price, I feel like it's very reasonable considering the quality (and amount) of food you receive. I've tried a couple other crab joints in the area that are similar in proximity to Boondocks, and I haven't found one yet that I enjoy more. I would highly recommend this establishment to satisfy anyone's crab cravings, or seafood cravings in general.

It's a little bit out of the way, but it's worth it for at least one visit. Two of us shared the "Pig Out" meal, which consists of crabs, corn, fries, shrimp, wings, and more. The service was exceptional, and our drink glasses were never near empty before refills were offered. The food did come out at slightly different times, but with a party of 9 people and the variety of food ordered, this is somewhat expected. The only negative is the slight odor of strong cleaning chemicals if you're seated near the restrooms.

If you want to have a quiet atmosphere or need a chair with a backing, ask to sit inside. The covered patio has picnic tables, so they are good for the younger crowds. Our food was absolutely delicious! Our waitress, however, did not check on us after we we received our food. She never came back to check on us until she brought the bill.

The Swamp water is good but I always have them make it without the food color and have them add fresh lemon limes... The crab melt was fabulous

We love this place! Can't wait to come back. The atmosphere, service & food was awesome! No complaints at all. We love how friendly and helpful everyone is and the laid back vibe you get here.

We live right around the corner from here but never go and after this visit that will definitely change. Our server Michelle, was fabulous. Super friendly and kind. The food was delicious and came out fast even though the restaurant was packed. My little equestrian daughter spied this horse seat and it made her whole night! Just an all around great experience.

Been wanting to try this place for a couple of years. Finally got there and by far, the best crab cake I have ever had. Wish it was open year round. Love the atmosphere and decor! Swamp juice was good as well and our server was great!

We tried Boondocks for the first time tonight! Liv was our server and she gave great service. Very attentive and a pleasant experience. Definitely will be back.
